The SV650 won Motorcyclist magazines "Best Bang for the Buck" award and Cycle World magazines "Best Standard" in 2003. The 2004 SV650 has been redesigned with aggressively styled bodywork and the subframe has been lowered for a more comfortable seating position.
The naked SV650 utilizes a classic round headlight with a 60/55-watt H4 halogen bulb. Instruments are the same on both machines: an easy-to-read analog tachometer, digital LCD speedometer, odometer, tripmeter, coolant temperature gauge and low fuel light.
Powering the SV650 is a reliable 90-degree 645cc V-twin tuned for crisp throttle response and class-leading horsepower and torque. The 645cc motor utilizes four valves per cylinder, and has 11.5:1 compression ratio and an oversquare bore and stroke of 81.0mm x 62.6mm. Cast-aluminum pistons feature cut-away sides and short wrist pins for reduced reciprocating mass. A six-speed transmission transfers horsepower to the rear wheel via vertically staggered shafts for reduced overall engine length. The SV650 also benefits from Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) digital fuel injection system for exceptional response and power.
